Quoting: Anonymous Coward 35458901 6.5 CM is a modern round that out performs.308 at longer ranges. It is easier on barrels too. Look into it. Truth The only thing that round is good for is Credence Clearwater songs. Shit |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 77578813 United States 06/03/2020 10:10 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | In my opinion, 6.5 anything, creedmore included, is a fad. Don't be fooled, .308 has killed way more "stuff" than 6.5 ever will. .308 is battle proven, period. That being said, yes the 6.5 does have slightly better ballistic coefficient over .308. but military and law enforcement still use what? .308. or obviously .50 if you are super serious. .308 is readily available. One reason to choose it. Personally I prefer belted magnums. But, if s did ever h the f... Easier to procure parts and pieces for the more common .308 than, let's say, 7mm rem mag, or 300 win mag, etc.. |

Accutrigger is awesome Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78977295 Now reach out and touch some varmits Another great value is the Remington model 783. Savage over 783 any day.. but 700 over Savage. As long as it's new or trigger has the dot on it, cause it was reworked. |

Lester User ID: 58915073 United States 06/03/2020 10:19 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The Accuracy Intl bolt guns are notoriously heavy. Also cost upwards of $10k without scope. Well regarded in the higher realms, but.... The Sako TRG-22 is very comparable for about $3k. The Tikka varmint and tactical rifles are under $1k and very fine quality for the money. There's also Tikka's "master" competition rifle with its orange-ish laminated stock. About $1k less than a TRG-22. Tikka and Sako both owned by Beretta and made in same factory in Finland. Lots of semi-custom makers our there, but FN-Herstal has their Patrol and Police models which are about the best values. Police has McMillan stock, if you like them, an heavy varmint match barrel. The action is a Win 70 crf action which is among the best ever designed. Great rifles for around $2500 and $800 for the Patrol. Winchester USRAC made the Heavy Varmint in .308 which came with a stainless barrel made by Wilson and a H-S Precision marksman stock. Winchester's custom shop also made the Marksman rifles with Schneider stainless barrels. All in all, there are a few other chamberings worth consideration: The Tikka series and TRG-22 have been made in .260rem. Something to be said for the .308win case necked down to .264". Can always find brass, and if you have loading tools, you're set! The Tikkas have been chambered in .223/5.56 with a 1:8 twist which allows using 77gr match bullets at about 2700fps. Very versatile and accurate bullet, but they don't fragment like the lighter weight bullets. Great penetration and even when shot into a box of rocks, as a backdrop, you'll find the 75/77gr bthp bend like pretzels, but don't break apart. Best choice going unless you're in backwoods Alaska where there're large bears. .223/5.56 weights half as much as the .308win; so can carry 2x the ammunition. Very accurate out to 600yds even with open sights (if you have a 20" barreled rifle!)... The .223/5.56 will deliver at 1000yds with great accuracy as well; at least from a bolt rifle with optimum barrel length and handloaded 90gr VLD bullets. A stainless Tikka Varmint in 5.56/223 with 1:8 twist barrel would be my choice for a daily carry rifle. The Leupold 4.5-14 50mm and 6.5-20 50mm are very acceptable optics while also being lightweight. |
