Chinese do actually have a sort of manifest-destiny component wired into their brainstems by way of fairy tales, myth, religious belief and alchemical traditions.

Three sacred islands to the east -- as indeed North America would appear to shipwrecked fishermen, ancient mariners and pre-Christ mapmakers, when Baja and SoCal were still divided from the continent by an inland sea.

A mix of El Dorado, Xanadu and Eden, home to longevity potions, easy wealth and fantastic mythical creatures, affectionately nicknamed "Gold Mountain" even today.

the thing with the Chinese writing system, it's not a phonetic script, the signs, "ideograms" do not refer to sounds but to words as concepts, therefore the Mandarin Chinese and Cantonese are written the exact same way although as spoken languages they are not necessarily mutually intelligible.
