The part you are missing is there are no red or blue states. There are Red and Blue Metropolitan areas. Its going to be hard for Houston, Minneapolis, New York City and LA to become their own country.

I really don’t see how this is a bad thing. Break off NYC (or even something like Baltimore To NYC), LA to SF, Chicago, maybe break off Miami and Browaed Co, Puerto Rico.
