Does this have anything over the 6.5 Grendel? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78653666 I know with a 6.5 Grendel you can get ~1800 FPE from an 18" BBL. That's a lot of energy for an AR-15 platform. 25 round magazine. Supersonic past 1,000 yards. .510 G1 So I guess the round you're talking about might push it an extra 100 yards supersonic, but I always kind of thought if you're seriously concerned with 1,000+ yard performance you should ditch intermediates altogether. But that just might be the 6.5 Grendel nerd in me talking; and to be honest I haven't looked into the round you're talking about extensively. Any advantage over the 6.5G that you know of? Really good article and review from Ryan Cleckner. Some differences to 6.5 Grendel. In fact, for testing the manufacturers were using 6.5 Grendel mags that had some issues. But at 1.47 per round, it's not exactly a better option for 5.56 which is roughly .32 per round and up. Not criticizing but this will prolly become another fad round for the AR platform. In my opinion, the 300 win mag/7mm Ar10 and ar15 platform provides more bang for your buck and has been tested and proven in combat and the range for yrs now. But, i do like where the 6mm is heading. It could open up many possibilities down the round after the kinks get worked out. Would love to put some lead down range with it. For now, i have to stick with the 7.62 and 5.56 calibers for close quarters and 200yds or less. My Barrett 338 MRAD will have to do for further targets. |

Knight Arms developed the PDW carbine which I think is far superior to the AR. It uses a 6x35mm round which is like the ARC round. I would give your left nut to have one of these guns. The mil is not changing anytime soon as there are just too many parts and ammo around the world for the ar. |

Once more people produce this type of ammo it will fall down. Hell even the 5.56 will go down in price because of this. Like the 5.7 x28. The more weapons they make with this ammo and more people make the ammo it will be cheaper. Hopefully this new one you mention can get to civilian hands. |

God has fixed the time for my death. I do not concern myself about that, but to be always ready, no matter when it may overtake me. That is the way all men should live, and then all would be equally brave.” -Stonewall Jackson "The Bible that is falling apart usually belongs to a person who is not." - Charles Spurgeon “I apprehend no danger to our country from a foreign foe . . . Our destruction, should it come at all, will be from another quarter. From the inattention of the people to the concerns of their government, from their carelessness and negligence, I must confess that I do apprehend some danger. I fear that they may place too implicit a confidence in their public servants, and fail properly to scrutinize their conduct; that in this way they may be made the dupes of designing men, and become the instruments of their own undoing. Make them intelligent, and they will be vigilant; give them the means of detecting the wrong, and they will apply the remedy.” “If we abide by the principles taught in the Bible, our country will go on prospering and to prosper; but if we and our posterity neglect its instructions and authority, no man can tell how sudden a catastrophe may overwhelm us and bury all our glory in profound obscurity.” -Daniel Webster |

Another cartridge nobody asked for. But with Hornady behind it, it could pick up, just like 6.5mm Creedmore. I think the AR-15 bolt design and 7.62x39mm case diameter are not exactly good combinations. Very little metal left on the lugs. |
