"Making your own bed" is a metaphor about taking care of your own human needs; wiping your own ass, so to speak. If you don't get that you should have paid attention in Literature 101, and probably grew up with Mommy making your bed. Or, you just sleep in your clothes where-ever.

When I got sobered up years ago I reverted back to some of the core things from boot camp like making your bed, keeping your shit squared away. It’s about living in the moment, appreciating simple things and having daily routines that add positive things in your life. It helped me a lot. I’ll do it till the day I die
