Louis in Richmond
That is my arm now; broken for 7 months User ID: 75569412 United States 06/14/2020 03:02 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Here's my footage of yesterday's early morning launch. Filmed for the first time with my new 4K Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera. The second stage rose into sunlight during the launch, causing a brilliant display that lit up the sky behind the clouds as you can see on the viewfinder camera video at the end. Thank you Dr. Astro. Your video was no less than we have come to expect from you: first class and quality. It is stunning on the large screen 4K UHD monitor in my den. Thank you for being a member, putting up with the hassles of modding, and giving us great content always. - Louis Until your military service has required you neutralize enemy combatants and invaders in the defense of your country, don't presume to tell us that have defended you that you don't support every shot we fired to eliminate that enemy. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78263887 He works for intelligence, like Gates, Zuckerberg.... A face for public consumption. Elon Musk looks to me like a person totally manufactured by Intelligence as the fake human front for all these fake projects. [link to mileswmathis.com] |

Worthy enough they even let them use their launch facilities etc. Musk's companies have received $5 billion in government subsidies YOU pay for it! |

And yes, as a taxpayer I'm helping to pay. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79015017 Are you using that tracking software you made? Looks awesome. Yup, using the software I made along with an X52 Pro joystick. [link to drive.google.com (secure)] |

Too bad you don't have a telemetry downlink to overlay the telemetry data on top of your vid. Or do they? That would be super cool. Quoting: Seeker of Truth No, but eventually I plan to independently triangulate the position and velocity of the rocket by having multiple observers recording data using my software and various telescope mounts. |

(OP) Senior Forum Moderator 06/15/2020 10:25 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This was my first real video filmed with it, but I'm quite happy so far for my purposes. And that's the real answer, it really depends on what you intend to do with it. This would not be my go-to camera for a quick grab and go cam for family videos. It's intended as a professional camera for very high quality filming where lots of effort is going to be invested in the final product. And in that role I think it's fantastic, but my needs may be different from yours. I found the light weight very desirable as it doesn't disrupt the weight balance of my telescope. I also wanted the small 4/3rds sensor size to be able to record satellites at very high effective magnifications. It checks all the right boxes for me, but for some use cases those aren't necessarily positive attributes. TL;DR yes it's a good buy for me, but YMMV |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 79049454 United States 06/19/2020 10:41 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Give it up ASS TROLL TURD Unless you can show us a video where a camera follows the rocket all the way into "space", we all know this shit is FAKE. I'm talking about a video shot from a distance, following the damn rocket all the way up. All we ever see is one shot of the rocket after initial launch, from a good distance away (showing the entire rocket). After 2 minutes the camera switches to the 480p video of the camera strapped to the side of the rocket. From here, it's all props and green screen. We see a first person view of the image of the earth on the green screen in the studio. We don't see the full shot of the rocket ever again. These assholes have billions of dollars but can't strap a high quality camera on to a drone or a weather balloon and follow the rocket up to space. These things can easily go up 90,000 feet in the air and get a good shot of the ENTIRE ROCKET as it goes into "space". But of course we know thats impossible because there's a FlRMAMENT. Even these bums strapped a GoPro on to a weather balloon and got it up 90,000 feet in the air. [link to youtu.be (secure)] So once again, show us a video of a rocket (from a distance showing the entire rocket) going all the way into "space". And I'm talking about a video shot from a distance showing the whole rocket. Not a fucking close up shot of the side of the rocket and a green screen showing the earth. And if you delete this post and don't show evidence, then that just proves that you're a shill. |

And if you delete this post and don't show evidence, then that just proves that you're a shill. You do realize... "The delta-v needed to achieve low Earth orbit starts around 9.4 km/s. Atmospheric and gravity drag associated with launch typically adds 1.3–1.8 km/s (4,700–6,500 km/h; 2,900–4,000 mph) to the launch vehicle delta-v required to reach normal LEO orbital velocity of around 7.8 km/s (28,080 km/h; 17,448 mph).[11]" Good luck with your ballon mounted gopro camera keeping up at 17,448mph. What would be easier is to launch two rockets with one filming the other from a distance. |
