Re: Juneteenth reminder
Tomorrow, as we celebrate the last vestige of the emancipation proclamation ending slavery in Texas in 1865, I want to remind the shills on this site of one thing.

It was the Republican Party who freed the slaves.

A lot of well-educated people don't know that the Republicans freed the slaves and the Democrats founded the KKK.

It's okay AC. That's why I made this thread. To educate you.

WTF! I just got an email that an insurance carrier we work with is 'closing early' tomorrow in honor of the Juneteenth 'Holiday'. I guess **it happens fast if they already pushed this through as recognized holiday.

There needs to be an Anthony Johnson Day, March 8, 1655, the first day of legal slavery in America.

Anthony Johnson, a black man, sued to keep his indentured servant John Casor, the first person to be declared a slave in a civil case.

I have lived in the south all my life and never heard of Juneteenth until we moved to Texas. Republicans freed blacks. Democrats enslaved them.

Another fake celebration day, look up Cinco de Mayo. Some of these bogus party days are just an excuse to swill beer and test fire the AK's into crowds.

Yes...the number of "Holidays" we Americans have has become ludicrous, IMO. I never grew up hearing about Junteenth and actually never heard of it until recently.

Bingo. I vaguely recall in elementary school & again in a college Texas history class touching on this, but it wasn't a big deal (and I had many Juneteenths in Dallas and Waco), but we didn't celebrate it. I think a few blacks did, but they weren't having raucous celebrations...saved the big parties for Texas' state religion, high school feetsball.
