Last I knew Bluetooth technology is by far the least secure computer technology on Earth. This is a great way to get other people's phones infected with malware which you will never be able to get rid of... and your phone will be remotely stolen by someone else. The legal ramifications for this will be you will be legally responsible for whatever the hacker(s) do while using your smartphone however they so desire.

No, I don't believe it interferes with planes either. But how does it not turn the tracking off when you activate Airplane mode? You can measure the signals with an trifield meter. Turn on Airplane mode and those signals stop.

After that last update, my phone just started installing apps by itself. Like 10 of them. I had to disable Moble Service Manager or something like that.

What you don't recognize is this is a preliminary app. If and when it becomes mandatory that every phone have this, there will likely be no way to disable it and it won't need an additional app to be installed.

Just look at your Health app settings. The new 'Exposure Logging' option is off by default and you can't even turn it on unless you have an authorized app that YOU installed and enabled. If you never installed and enabled such an app, then forget it.

Go ahead and try to toggle it on. Can you toggle it on?

By the way, there aren't even any apps yet that use the exposure tracking API.

Four out of the 50 states have stated that that will develop such apps, but none have as of yet.

This is just a bunch of paranoia over something that doesn't even exist yet. And if you are in a state that develops an app to use exposure tracking, just don't install it if you don't like it.

My smart phone has a removable battery, I only put in when I need to make a phone call which is pretty rare.

I might use 30 minutes per month if that.

Well now there is a highly technical and convincing argument for you right there.

Here's one thing you might want to do:

1) Write down what version you're on. 10.9, 11.1 etc.

2) Turn off automatic updates, and set it to manual.

3) Before doing an update check if the next update will add the covid apps. If it does, you may want to stick with what you have. I'm on an old Nexus phone and have no desire to upgrade my phone or apps. my phone is rooted.
