DENVER (KDVR) – A local police chaplain says his homeowners association is demanding he take down his “thin blue line” American flag. It comes at a time when he says the officers he works with need support the most. He says the past three weeks have been very trying for his officers. He wants to show his appreciation for law enforcement, but he doesn’t want to show his face or use his name for his family’s safety.

New Port Richey homeowners association sent former Pasco County Sheriff Deputy Sean Kennedy a letter telling him to remove the Blue Lives Matter flag flying above his garage―and he refuses.

Because the Thin Blue Line flag is manufactured as a Thin Blue Line flag and has not been altered. If you legally acquire a US flag by purchase or gift, then deface or desecrate that US flag, then you violate the US Flag Code.

The "thin blue line" is a term for the police that is used to assert that they are the line which keeps society from descending into violent chaos.

The term began as an allusion to the British infantry regiment The Thin Red Line during the Crimean War in 1854. The regiment of Scottish Highlanders — wearing red uniforms — held off a Russian cavalry charge. The "blue" in "thin blue line" refers to the blue color of the uniforms of many police departments.
