How To Deal With Threatening People in Public - Jocko Willink
I think some of you may appreciate this video given the human temperament we're living with now.....and I suspect it's going to be running hot for much longer, through and after the election.

Since the vid's 20 min long, a synopsis, but please do watch the whole thing....heh, I've still yet to finish it myself. It's good info, so I'm posting it now--

HONE your awareness skills! Also hone your body, what you can do with your body, and the tools you use.

Most important thing....99% of situations can be avoided, if you're just aware.

At 13:10 it starts on a great conversation for men and their strong sense of honor and to defend.

It's very good!

I know as a woman, I would indeed try to hold my SO back from beating the tar outta someone....because of the consequences. I personally don't need my honor defended. Nobody can touch my sense of honor....and I sure as hell don't want my guy banged up and in jail....or dead....not over something as rock steady as my honor.

Seriously, y'all need to get out of your heads and phones and the Internet more, and learn to be circumspect of your environment....and if you're able, the entire environment, that which can't be seen with the two eyes on your head, too. Many of us are painfully aware that this isn't just a ground battle. There is also a battle for our souls.

Please, when you're out, really look at your environment. Look at the doorways, down the alleys, peer into the thicket of trees....how many people are in your environment? Do you even take note of anything when you're out?

I personally have acute awareness of my environment. I trained myself to be this way many years ago while learning to lucid dream.

I'm often pointing out obscure things in the environment....like a few weeks ago, there was a stegosaurus on a mountain side, it was formed by a shadow in a crevice....but it was a perfect stegosaurus. I pointed it out to my client, who had his nose buried in his phone....he asked me how I even saw that.

I told him how I'm very aware of my environment, but I was thinking how he needed to take his nose out of his phone, because there's a huge world of possibilities - good and not so good - out there....heh, one that makes that little world he's peering into a joke.

Seems interesting, thanks to bring it to our awareness, as my country is also in social turmoil and by past experience, I can vouch that being really aware of your surroundings can be the difference between a quick getaway and being mugged by a mob.

Situational awareness is key. Been practicing it my entire life. Also practice it when talking to people, at work, etc. No reason to engage when the engagement is going to be unproductive or harmful to yourself in some way. Sometimes a key word or phrase can clue you in that a person or a conversation could be harmful to you.

Always think of the big picture and always think of self-preservation.

Sometimes it's hard to check emotions, and I want to respond emotionally, but I am usually very glad afterward that I haven't. A boss make you mad? What good is it going to do to respond in a flippant way if that person is in charge of your employment and you don't have other employment lined up?

Be proactive too with driving. I try to avoid driving in clumps of vehicles. The odds go up then that an accident could happen. Be aware of the outlier driver and avoid that person.

Be proactive around the house too. Look at things that could cause people to fall. Mop up water that has spilled.

Always think of self-preservation. (It saves you a lot of money, too!)

Simple. Stand your ground and always wear a sidearm. If you live in a state without stand your ground, open and concealed carry, and the castle doctrine, then move.

Your life depends upon it. Especially now.

How about we leave color and politics out of this thread.

Like the thread title says, "How To Deal With Threatening PEOPLE in Public".

People of all colors and all realms of politics who are threatening are jackasses....no one is immune, unless they actually have a moral compass inside of them.

Heh, your compass seems to be going a little wonky, eh?

Most of these children are craving that which they have never, nor will ever have, power. These types are brainwashed to the point of no return. Never lower your guard and do not provoke them. It is exactly what they want, an excuse to envoke a violent response backed up by the mob. The great percentage of these will re-act completely different when confronted alone. You will not win an argument with these types as they are incapable of logical reasoning.
