Smart people took 1000 paper rubles before reform, converted into 1000 rubles in 1,2,3,5 kopeek (aka cents). 100 kopeek=1ruble and still had 1000 rubles after reform. History, you can learn a lot from it Contra spem spero |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 77961416 France 06/29/2020 02:19 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I was about to cash in approx 4k in coins... Quoting: Anonymous Coward 2226485 So I should keep them? According to this guy (linked below), the dollar is paradoxically strong now, and will be for another 18 months. I am not sure it will be for that long, but, it's the future... hard to tell ;) After that there will be hyperinflation and probably a new global currency. My guess is that "they" will make the switch from USD to New-Global-Currency when the USD is worth about $0.20, so that would be a 5:1 peg. However, as stated above, coins will not lose value, and will be accepted as full value fractions of the new currency. So, yeah, keep the coins. |

Walmart and Quicktrip by my house have stopped taking cash, a lot of peaople still use cash. I use cash and card. The cashless society is steam rolling ahead |

Cool summer job for a 16 year old west side kid. Anyway, the Denver Mint will close down by September this year. No more coins. Followed by no more $1 and $5 dollar bills. Get ready for Hyperinflation. Then the 2nd wave of 19 thru Sept. Oct. Nov. During those months the bodies truly will pile up. Riots in the streets. Civil war. Then Russian and Chinese troops in blue helmets on our streets by December. Washington DC will be burnt to the ground, the government no where to be found. Brace yourselves! Anonymous Coward User ID: 21692178 United States 06/29/2020 02:31 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | There is definitely an artificial shortage of coins. I own a restaurant and have to order a thousand bucks in coins every week from my merchant bank. This week I got $3k worth because other bars in the area were denied by their banks and my own bank said there certainly is a shortage. It is real. But like most things, it’s not organic. The usual suspects are at work trying to fuck shit up. |

I work for one of the major cash in transit armored companies and any of our customers who use Wells Fargo aren’t able to get box coin with their change orders. The federal reserve won’t authorize release of the box coin in our coin room reserves to use either. |

He was complaining last week his bank had less small bills and especially rolled quarters and dimes for him than usual. He stated his banker said it was specifically due to Fed policy, the banks are not being re-supplied with normal amounts of coins they request. First time he had encountered it and he was not a happy camper. More collusion against economic recovery? |

Quoting: pool Keep your coins because we don't know what's going to happen after the election, or even if there's going to be an election. If everything closes down, we may have to barter with our neighbors, and coins would be a good bargaining chip. i.e., 4 eggs for a quarter. Half a loaf of bread for 30 cents.
