There is definitely an artificial shortage of coins.

I own a restaurant and have to order a thousand bucks in coins every week from my merchant bank. This week I got $3k worth because other bars in the area were denied by their banks and my own bank said there certainly is a shortage. It is real.

But like most things, it’s not organic. The usual suspects are at work trying to fuck shit up.

OP is correct. Friend of mine owns small restaurant that does a lot of cash business. He was complaining last week his bank had less small bills and especially rolled quarters and dimes for him than usual. He stated his banker said it was specifically due to Fed policy, the banks are not being re-supplied with normal amounts of coins they request. First time he had encountered it and he was not a happy camper. More collusion against economic recovery?
