I will not take a 12 dollar job until unemployment/cobra runs out. Everybody is going to be stingy with their dollars for at least 3 YEARS or more. Saw this after 9-11 downturn.
Forget about what previously was your non-essential cushy job coming back. You might be needed at the warehouse or nursing home to wash sheets.

Employers advertise a job position and get hundreds if not thousands of applications, good luck with that. My brother studied welding in high school and my dad got him into BASF back in 1974. He is rich now and he is a High school dropout. All of my engineer friends are lucky to be working and some have been let go permanently. College is no longer a viable career path unless you major in a select few fields like Nursing. You can get a job outside of Your degree field if You tried. The technical side of the oilfield hires people will electrical repair experience to maintain all the high tech under water equipment that's used in the offshore oilfield. Hell they have rental companies that rent out the gear and they need to be checked out and maintained after the rental is returned. I'd check with some offshore surveying companies like Fugro, Oceaneering, & subsea 7 and see if they were hiring.
