Look at our legal code -- it is Byzantine in its complexity.

Yeah, we took a simple brilliant idea (our form of government) and fucked it all up with bad laws and an activist judiciary out of control lately.

Excessive (s)tate debt rots empires from the top down to the direct degree equal to the debt load itself.

Infinite Debt™ = Infinite Oblivion

Yes, the debt, too.

All of this is unsustainable in all likelihood.

I play a game, when I'm bored, Rome: Total War, and you build your cities that you conquer, and spends tons of money building them up, sewers, aquducts, libraries, things like that.

Any way, after many years the cities rebel against you, where it hits a boiling point.

Then, the only way to win is to pull all your forces out of the city and let it burn, occasionally having to face a rebel army first, then you move back in and take over what's left and rebuild.

That s what I think is happening here, but in a carefully managed way.

The government desperately needs to adopt a centralized ERP software such as Eclipse to manage assets, and properties, cash flow, etc.
The tax system is too convoluted to work for this purpose,
They need to adopt a unified operational outlook, such as a hive mind and optimized process model flow of steps in a sequence of events.

Institute VAT.

Problem: the Dems would institute VAT and keep the outdated income tax code.

I'm not sure anything can fix the convoluted knot we're in, culturally, financially, and in any other way you can imagine.

Too the elite who play the long game, we were a one shot rifle with unerring accuracy, quickly discarded.

Its funny, progression.

With each new step, you forget something that made you who you are, and embrace what turns you mindless.

Were we ever meant to be a democracy? I had thought the dream was to be a republic.

the sloven masses simply figured out they could vote themselves money in this system. the slow politicians soon figured out the game as well and bought their votes in this democracy.

we were a republic for what, 20 years max?

or do you think it would have come to this regardless of our current system?

Its a progression man.

You win it, you own it, you get tired of it, it falls into apathy, the 2nd law of thermodynamics.

Kind of like the 4 seasons of generations? something that takes about 80-100 years to come full circle? The conditions of the previous generation builds the character of the next ... and so on.

so where are we, about to go back to the silent generation?

The Silent Generation refers to people who were born between 1925 and 1945. There are several theories as to where the label 'Silent Generation' originated. The children who grew up during this time worked very hard and kept quiet. It was commonly understood that children should be seen and not heard.

hahahahahaha, nevermind . time to pull that theory up by the roots and get rid of it
