But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear." Marcus Tullius Cicero |

If ever modern civilization falls apart, something like this on a local, less centralised scale could be immensely useful for reestablishing a knowledge base for society. Just don't keep it all in one place for some jerk to come along and burn it. |

No, sorry. If you search for "programming tutorial", you can teach yourself programming, but it takes a while to learn and get good at it. For simplicity with archiving, I'd suggest using a high level language which abstracts away some of the underlying networking and media functions, such as Java or PHP. Otherwise, if you want more general purpose programming skills at the same time, try C++ or some form of BASIC. |

Many years ago, FEMA published plans for a homemade unit. It's said that the design is not optimal, but it should work with readily available equipment.
