Is there some way of measuring the CO2 you're breathing back in while you have the mask on? carbon dioxide poisoning Poisoning caused by inhalation of carbon dioxide (CO2). In small quantities (up to about 5%) in inspired air, CO2 stimulates respiration in humans; in greater quantities it produces an uncomfortable degree of mental activity with confusion. Although not toxic in low concentrations, CO2 can cause death by suffocation. Poisoning is rarely fatal unless exposure occurs in a closed space. Is there some way of measuring the CO2 you're breathing back in while you have the mask on? carbon dioxide poisoning there is only the volume of CO2 from the very last moment of exhaling. as you are exhaling the CO2 is not compressing and collecting inside your mask; it is being pushed out of the mask by the CO2 behind it. what is left inside the mask by the time you take your next breath is next breath, is negligible. the lung are always filled with CO2. the Lungs only collect and absorb the Oxygen and expel the rest. you are not taking in anywhere near the CO2 to displace a significant amount of the incoming 20% Oxygen (in normal air). don't worry. you'll know it when you are suffocating. |

Is there some way of measuring the CO2 you're breathing back in while you have the mask on? carbon dioxide poisoning Carbon Dioxide Poisoning means: there is a Large volume of CO2 present, in the available air, that is displacing the spaces that are normally filled with oxygen in the the ambient air. that is different from Carbon Monoxide Poisoning, CO, because the Carbon Monoxide is actually absorbed into the blood stream and it chemically bonds with the blood cells permanently, so that the normal oxygen present has no way to transport itself around the body.
