I am on scene of the incident on I-5 and Olive way. A vehicle drove through the closure and struck multiple pedestrians on the freeway. Two people were transported to Harborview. One with life threatening injuries and one with serious injuries.

I am not gonna say she deserved it as such but these people blocking roads should understand that it comes with significant risks and that given it is illegal for them to be there and at 2am on a freeway in dark clothing you are likely to get hit!

Huh? This is the same kind of accidents that take out highway construction workers...perhaps the protest organizers need to obey the mandatory signage laws...you know a big warning sign 1200’ away followed by other signs and eventually an over abundance of tall safety cones & jersey barriers. At the very least they should be required to provide professional temporary lane closures the same as utility companies.

The people who organized the protest should be charged. The people who parked the vehicles on the road should be charged.

 

I have to admit, I don't see what other option the driver had. Those protesters are all idiots. People will probably whine that the driver should have stopped at the road block instead of trying to drive through it, but that would be a stupid idea these days. If you stop, or even slow down, the protesters just try to block the path, smash your car, beat you up, or shoot at you and then claim self-defense.

The driver couldn't just turn around and/or throw it is reverse on the freeway to try and avoid the protesters and protect himself either. According to online maps, it's a single direction highway with barriers on both sides and no way to exit for quite a distance backwards. Trying to backtrack would also put him in high risk of a head on collision with another freeway driver.

It's sad to see any life snuffed out, but there's a reason they have the Darwin awards every year.

To park those cars on a freeway just around a curve it looks like their intent was to cause unsuspecting drivers to plow into those cars, to cause bodily harm and property damage.
