Unfortunately the History of the War of Independence has been literally reinvented over the years.

The War of Independence was essentially a continuation of the English Civil War with alot of the Colonialists being Ulster Scots and those English who fled following the restoration of the Crown over Cromwells Republic fearing religious reprisals.

It was always inevitable that following the defeat of the French and British North America became established, religious practices brought over would eventually clash with the authorities from the mother land....hence it did.

There was also a global war ongoing between Britain and France + its allies the Spanish and Dutch.

The French saw a quick win and as Great Britain wasnt actually that concerned with the Colonies as it was the sugar rich west indies losing them although was a blip...wasnt some disaster its portrayed as they went on to WIN the global war with France who bankrupted themselves thanks to their intervention along with sowing the seeds of the French Revolution....idiots so it led to their downfall.

Anyway it is what it is.

"Give me liberty, or give me death" may be more important today than it ever was 1775.

It Declared War on Germany in 1914 (WW1)
It Declared War on Germany in 1939 (WW2) q full 2 years before the USA confronted the Nazis.
Great Britain had the Largest Empire in World History..spreading democracy, rule of law and economics across the planet.

It should be noted that George Washington continued to march UNDER THE GRAND UNION FLAG of British North America.

He was a former BRITISH ARMY OFFICER as were many officers of the Continental Army and British Soldiers who thought the UK Parliment were being overbearing.

You wont hear that in school history lesson but read REAL history books and you see that it was essentially British Vs British.

Of course they were all British. Where did everyone come from? Westeros? The fact of the matter is that the troops harassing everyone were gone. The tea was not taxed...for a while at least. A separate state was formed on the new land with it's own laws. Laws we ignore now.

Other than a history repeat reference that does not really matter at all, all that matters is the commie takeover now in progress and it isn't just America. It is pretty much worldwide.
