The poorest people in the USA live in Appalachia. There are places where it does no good to have EBT cards as there ain't no stores. When coal mining was around, some of them got by. Many are very isolated. You probably couldn't understand them and would be scared of them if walking through the woods.

If things got dire and stupid Yankees from the Atlantic Seaboard tried to flee into Appalachia, there is no way in Hell they would survive. Those urbanites are doomed to try to cross into those Scotch-Irish rednecks.

Those who have the State of mind dooms not only themselves but those future generations. For them, education is not as important as the now.
