Quoting: 1guynAz But they will always accept cash... Glad we don’t shop there... hope y’all don’t either... 4/27/20 Whole Foods restricting some cash purchases... Amidst concerns over the ongoing spread of the coronavirus, at least one national grocery chain has begun limiting the use of cash in some stores. Last Friday, reports began to surface on social media of Whole Foods stores restricting or even eliminating cash payments. One Twitter user posted a sign that appeared at one of the Amazon-owned grocers' locations... [link to fortune.com (secure)] |

New Jersey, in spite of having nearly every form of repressive law there is, actually has one requiring that all businesses MUST accept cash for payment, f tendered. Go figure. “While cash and coins are legal tender for all debts, there is no federal law that requires businesses to accept them in exchange for goods and services, according to the Federal Reserve's website.” [link to www.federalreserve.gov (secure)] Last Edited by Bad Pattern on 07/06/2020 12:35 AM |

Every self checkout I've ever used has accepted cash. In his poem Human Pride, Marx admits that his aim is not to improve the world, reform or revolutionize it, but simply to ruin it and enjoy it being ruined: With disdain I will throw my gauntlet full in the face of the world, And see the collapse of this pygmy giant whose fall will not stifle my ardor. Then will I wander godlike and victorious through the ruins of the world And, giving my words an active force, I will feel equal to the Creator. “Looking for consciousness in the brain is like looking in the radio for the announcer.” – Nasseim Haramein, Director of Research for the Resonance Project |

Other stores do not have this message (yet?). So what's Meijer doing wrong or why are they the only ones that can't get coins? |

User ID: 78306935 Netherlands 07/06/2020 01:35 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It was normal here during lockdown to prefer not accepting cash. Some stated that totally wouldn't accept it but ultimately would because money is money. Everywhere it didn't go from hand to hand to avoid skin contact but laid down on the counter. "A strange game. Anonymous Coward User ID: 74821854 United States 07/06/2020 02:58 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | They key word is legal tender for all debts. When you shop at a store you don't own the item till checkout thus are not in debt to the store. Now a place like a restaurant where you order a meal, then settle the bill after the meal is consumed, you are in debt because you have already consumed the product without payment up front. So as much as a restaurant might try, they have to take your cash to settle the debt. If they won't you can pretty much walk out. If they call the cops, show the cops you have the cash to settle the debt, you tried to offer it to them and they'll probably let you walk free or force the restaurant to take the cash. |
