It is plain to see that his cognitive ability is not the same as it was 2 years ago. It will likely be another 2-4 years before he actually realizes the amount of cognitive decline he's experienced.

I'm case you don't know, long term benzo use has a direct effect on cognitive ability and IQ. using for more than 1 month WILL cause a person to be less smart than they were before, and the changes are considered permanent.

Stay away from benzos. Someone supposedly as smart as JBP absolutely should have been smart enough (and disciplined enough!) To stay away from them.
