Everyone wants to be great, important, do great things, even his own ego must have to be carefully managed, its a thing now.

He probably fears his own ego above all.

This is not some benevolent man unaware of this world, he's probably seen it all and just chose right.

Eh, humans have no understanding of final judgement in a world full of change and temporary paradigms.

I guess this is really a philosophical question then; is Truth absolute or relative?

A simple test for me is; under a blue light, a yellow surface looks green.

So in that sense, "truth is relative" to my eyes' ability to interpret environmental effects.

I'm not saying truth can't be absolute, but does an absolute truth even matter, or is it even knowable to my current set of faculties?

For instance, if I don't know the blue light is there, then my "Truth" is that the wall is green, unequivocally, not made up with a combination of "material" and light.

Yes to all of these, except that it doesn't really matter.

Without a group of enthusiastic wise folk thinking about what he must be like, he might be missed entirely. We are supposed to watch. How can anyone truly watch without knowing what they're watching for? It could also help negate doubts he's bound to have about himself

He has likely spoken to many, all the time. In every way he can imagine, both shouting arrogantly and whispering humbly (...and shouting humbling and whispering arrogantly, etc).

If there is a singular "message" it is so simple it is instantly appropriated by surrounding opinions; repeatedly, again and again, at every point. Either through perceived offense, or predicted gain.

I think the "reveal" is in the enhancement of self... if there is a noticeable effect, it will likely be most noticeable in the increasing greed and friction first, to the point of imbalance.
