Suggestions:

1. Think cheap food. Beans, rice, flour for bread or tortillas, lentils, etc. Famine occurs when people cannot get adequate calories. I stocked pasta, sauce, and parmesan cheese to give away to the needy.

EAT what you prepped. Get used to the new, leaner diet now. Learn to cook from scratch. Plenty of info on the web about that.

2. Get a grain grinder if possible with your budget. In a pinch you can make flour from feed store grain such as millet and whole corn.

3. Save junk mail, catalogs, etc. Can serve as TP in emergencies. Just don't flush it; put in trash can. If you lose running water, dig a hole out back, build an outhouse, or use a 5 gallon bucket.

YES, it is always prudent to stock up. Every family needs a minimum TWO YEAR SUPPLY of food and essentials.
