Mental Case
User ID: 79118638 United States 07/06/2020 11:07 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Usually people make money after a bank run by having alot of cash before hand & after the banks run dry they lend out cash at high interest rates. But then you need to hire gweedo to break thumbs if they miss a payment. If I am going to be damned...I am going to be damned for who I really am! |

So in that event what would you play in the live market? Short the big banking institutions? What else would go down or up? I realize metals are a sound way to insure security prior to the event but what can we do during the event in terms of trading? Thanks for the feedback so far. Don’t feed the trolls! |

Let's talk about what a "bank run" looks like and what causes it to occur. US banks operate a fractional reserve system. Which means they're able to lend out based on significant multiples of whatever deposits they hold. The key word is "fractional". Please be aware that essentially every local bank in the country has a history of how much cash is deposited each day and now much is withdrawn. With a small cushion this is how much cash is in the bank on any given day. I promise you that if you walked in with a legit check for $50,000 to any bank you have accounts in that they'd tell you something like, "we can give you $10,000 today and you can come and get the rest tomorrow or the day after." You, with your check for more cash than they have on hand, just triggered a "bank run". If there was a sustained line of depositors who wanted whatever funds were in their demand accounts, checking and savings are the best examples, that bank would experience a "net outflow" of funds. They'd go to their local Federal Reserve bank to take out the cash needed and the "run" would end pretty quickly. Longer term? The bank would have to reduce their lending. But that's not going to happen in a week. Or three for that matter. Short answer to your question? Short the smaller and midsized banks, the ones that are not "too big to fail". And pick up some precious metals as a hedge against inflation but get things like common date US gold and silver coins rather than bars or "rounds". "Socialism only works in two places: Heaven where they don't need it and hell, where they already have it." Ronald Reagan The trouble with our liberal friends is not that they're ignorant; it's just that they know so much that isn't so." Ronald Reagan |

Apollo Currency bought thousands of acres of gold-rich land to back up their new currency, GSX. GSX will be used in video games, but mostly will be utilized as a store of wealth against gold. Fucking genius of apollo to do. |

I wonder if firearm stocks would make for good Calls? What would people panic purchase if they thought they couldn’t get access to their cash? Food and TP? Over 800 views so far. Guess this is a harder question than I thought. Maybe if this thread got pinned the right person would see it and enlighten us with a strategy? Don’t feed the trolls! |

Not allowed to short the banks ever since the financial crisis. They changed the rules |

Your smartest bets in this event are gold mining stocks. Especially juniors. Probably silver miners and most likely silver mining juniors will give you your biggest return during the next crisis which shutters the banks |

I get that but some consider it unwise to place all your eggs in one basket. I think there are probably some good real time plays for cash sitting in a trading account. The primary reason for bank holidays is to reduce emotions and alleviating the bank’s pain of not having enough cash on hand to pass out to all the panicked account holders. Don’t feed the trolls! |
