Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71541443 Either 700,000 people were denied a firearm (highly unlikely) or one of those statistics are wrong. Then go learn how to fire the weapon at some paper targets. Finally, get defensive training when the adrenaline is pulsing through your veins so you don't collapse into a pile of worthless shit and get yourself killed anyway. justavet In the end, our regrets are for what we didn't do, not for what we did. |

The democrat party must command all the guns, that way, no guns can ever be used to command the party.” Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77673025 Nancy Pelosi That is a paraphrase of an actual statement from Mao Tse Tung's little red book. They can be 2 or more days depending on the state. Also, all these background checks, I don't know how long they take but I would assume they are back logged. So I think the amount sold is actually higher now & will most likely go up more. Background is completed within a few moments in the store before the purchase. |

When I first moved to this armpit of Nor Cal nearly 35 years ago, law enforcement response was literally measured in hours...or days... Today, with helicopters and advances in technology, the response time could be as little as an hour. An hour is a very long time, when decisions and actions require mere seconds. I will continue to defend my own ASAP, until if/when the Cavalry arrives. Don't judge me for it. Locked and loaded x 10. I've been married so long, I don't even look both ways when I cross the street. |

For a while while I was on the no fly list for criticizing Bush I was trued down buying a gun, with no explanation. 3 days later the gun dealer called and told me they approved my purchase. That happened four times, same pattern. |

Even here in Kommifornia, where the standard waiting period is 10 days for gun purchases, FFLs have related they often have the approval before the customer even leaves the store. CA DOJ apparently has a huge backlog of these 'instant' background checks however. Word on the street is that 'official' approvals are taking 14-21 days. Utter Bullshit. Also 3.9million minus 2.2 million is 1.7million, not sure what the 700k is. More the likely 1.7 million of those 2.2 million who bought guns then went to their local sherriff's office to get a carry permit and had a second background check. |

A friend & I did it at the same time & she called to see what was up & see said there was a tremendous backlog since everything had broke out like it had. What I don't understand is where all these new permits are getting their CCP classes done w/ the Kung Flu affecting everything? She knew the right cop that did a private class for just the 2 of us. |

There’s a few sticky topics related to the FOID and CCW application process and current wait times. Quoting: The_Last_Centurion I remember in May the current wait time was at 90 days for a FOID and the CCW was almost twice that. On the upside, as long as your current FOID/CCW was expired but you applied to renew before it did the law stipulates that it is still current. I know because I had to renew my CCW and got several “free” months out of them. As far as buying guns goes, if you haven’t bought them by now you’re firmly behind the eight ball. I work at Guns and Bullets, Inc. (not in Illinois). The first time somebody asked me about the FOID requirement, my response was "What in the fuck is a FOID?" User ID: 6773173 United States 07/07/2020 05:27 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | As pockets of anti-law enforcement activists demand that jurisdictions strip funding from police departments, ordinary citizens around the country assert that they are resorting to self-defense, and are buying weapons. Quoting: Coastie Patriot The assertions come amid a nationwide spike in personal weapons sales. In June, the FBI checked the backgrounds of 3,931,607 potential gun buyers, according to the Bureau. In the same month, Americans bought 2,387,524 guns, reported Small Arms Analytics & Forecasting (SAAF), an industry research and consulting group. “The demand has absolutely exploded beyond anything we have seen over the last 20 years,” said Jurgen Brauer, chief economist for SAAF. No official data explain the rise, Brauer told Just the News. “If you walk into a firearms store, they will not ask you the reason for buying a firearm,” he said. “There are small nonscientific anecdotal reports, though. Primarily it’s a security concern where people are not sure if public security is available while they are on lockdown.” Individual gun owners echoed and expanded on that explanation. “I saw what happened in Seattle, when police couldn’t get into the protest zone,” said single mother Kathleen Morrison, citing alarm over violent crimes inside the now-dismantled Capitol Hill Organized Protest zone (CHOP). “I thought, what if that happens here,” where she lives on the opposite end of the country, in Virginia. “I signed up for lessons, and I bought a gun.” [link to justthenews.com (secure)] Might not? The police are never close enough to prevent a crime, only close enough to apprehend the perpetrator after the fact. I'm glad to see so many millions waking up. The good thing is, gun owners tend to vote with preservation of the Constitution in mind. |
