They usually encourage people who are afraid, to buy a gun, and learn how to use it. They actively discourage that in my town and in my state. My town requires three permission slips from other people just for them to accept my application for a pistol permit and forward it to the state police. Getting a shotgun requires a class and takes the state police at least two months to license someone. For various reasons, that makes me dead if there are problems here. I won’t even run. No point. Sorry to hear that, I am in Texas. Thanks, I’m actually a Texan. Born and raised. It’s a naked feeling. I am unable to own a firearm bc I use medical marijuana. I have nerve pain and it keeps me from having to take a lot of other medications that I really don’t want to take and I’m glad I no longer have to. The two main ones are pain meds and Tegretol, which is an anti seizure med that for me, cuts 20 IQ points off my total. I can apply for a gun license one year after my medical marijuana license expires. Mine expires at the end of September. That means 9/29/21 is the earliest I can apply for a firearms license. I’ve taken the NRA concealed carry class which lets me buy whatever I want that’s legal here, so that’s where I’m at. I’m going to have to find someone to prescribe pain medication so I can function for the next year just so I can exercise my constitutional rights. I’m not defenseless here by any means but I will be screwed if this devolves info general widespread violence. I’m not defenseless here by any means but I will be screwed if this devolves info general widespread violence. if there is widespread violence, every man/woman and responsible "child" will be in use either to literally shoulder arms or maintain them. the firearms require good maintenance. |

That is why basic training in the military is so difficult. When a crisis occurs as a breach into your domicile, that is no time to suddenly react. Many will freeze and be ineffective. You got to train so muscle memory takes over and you are calm. You have to know where all family members are and they have to know what to do as well. In studies, most people buy a firearm, and never clean it, or discharge it. That is incredibly irresponsible. |
