His music is apart of most of our lives, even if we don't realize it. Gabrielle's Oboe haunted my mind for years after hearing it as a child from what must have been The Mission. I took many years for me to find where it came from, and who wrote it, only to discover it is only one among a treasure trove of great works. |

The song you posted is beautiful. This is my favorite. "Deborah's Theme. Once Upon a Time in America" [link to www.youtube.com (secure)] A shorter version. Just as beautiful: [link to www.youtube.com (secure)] I didn't write this comment below the video, but isn't it lovely? Andy Arciga 4 years ago This song reaches deep into my soul and ignites a nostalgia of my past. My mistakes and triumphs. My mistakes with my children and also the good times. My lost loves and all the what ifs. Some, that after 40+ years I still miss. I thought I was trying my best, but in retrospect, I could have done better. It makes me want to go back in time and correct my mistakes and savor the fond moments of my life. I feel a tear running down my cheek and a smile also forms on my face. Grazie, Don Ennio. X Truly beautiful, thank you so much. I'm a very logical and non emotional person by nature, but I'm at work trying to keep the tears from falling as I listen to these. I feel honored to be able to be touched by beauty. |

When I first heard it in L.A. at a movie theater playing the Red Tent in 1971. The love theme touches the solar plexus and to this day it still evokes a tear or two. He also managed to capture the cold icey starkness of the arctic in the soundtrack and at times reminded me of Gyorgy Legeti, [link to www.youtube.com (secure)] Who Kubrick used in 2001. Sometimes I'm in the world but not of it and Sometimes I'm of the world but not in it. |
