In my own town of Aylmer in Quebec, I campaigned for most of the bus service to be replaced with a liveried chauffeur service in a limousine. Why? Because the cost of driving around 38,000 pounds of steel bus with about one passenger on it is higher than having a Cadillac for the one or two passengers using the quiet routes.

In the OUtaouais, they bu service burns its way through $250,000 of diesel A DAY. Hardly surprising tickets are now only for the super-rich and the buses are empty.

Bonus: I'm in Boston (Quincy to be exact,a city that borders Boston) and take the red line (subway) to my job in Boston's financial district. Quincy Center to South Station. 10 miles. It's getting crowded again people going back to work. But I see tons of homeless druggies (all ages, teens, 20s, 30s, older) all the time. Most arent even from here. They come from up and down the east coast, many from rural areas of New England. Huge heroin problem here.
