I think we can all agree that there is a window of opportunity for preps still. Does someone know exactly how long we have to top off before it pops off?

Yes I am in Tx. I felt something in December and family just looked at me. Husband listened because I am usually right but I couldn’t pinpoint it. So I started nesting extras to our supply we had and was glad I did. Then the first hint of virus in China I said we need to squirrel more it could get here. He said no it’s in China I said nope I’m telling you get ready. March my family finally panicked and fought to find things and were stressed to the max

Same here. I had a bad feeling before the virus and stocked the pantry. Bad feeling before the riots. Bad feeling again. This time it’s food, water and security. Time is short.

This morning I was watching cnbc. For the life of me I cannot remember the guest’s name but you would know him by site. I am not sure if he is Iranian...he’s an older gentleman with gray hair...I know he is middle-eastern. Obviously an economic expert but a fairly regular guest. So this morning he said something very matter-of-fact. He said the fundamentals of the stock market right now are good and it looks sustainable. Something to that effect. He said there would have to be a SHOCK to the economy with something or some event happening. First idea is that you would have a huge number of bankruptcies. Can’t remember number what number 2 was but the third was that there would have to be a stock market event. He believes it will keep percolating along but if there is a shock event, it would be bad. Tried to get online to see if there was a blurb or a clip of the comment...couldn’t find anything. I believe Melissa Lee interviewed him.

These people are mentally insane. Limit contact at all costs. OP is right, restock now and rethink everything and everyone. Be safe.

Back in early December I told my husband that we needed to sell our used “fun boat”. There was an urgency about it. Good boat, plenty of good memories but it was like, “Gotta sell that thing and soon.” I told my husband that before we retire we need all the toys sold. Wish we could move now. We did sell the boat fast. There are a shortage of boats now. Everyone and their dog bought one in MN.

I guess I’m not so much depressed as I am remembering all the times I said on glp that things can change on a dime. If things really spiral we know it will be time to meet our savior and to be brave. He’s with me everyday and for all time so we must prepare ourselves physically, mentally but most importantly spiritually. Things have really spiraled so...I don’t think you can put the horse back into the barn. Many liberals who are not Christian (hey, conservatives too) who think things will get back to normal. Normalcy bias. Those are the ones who will lose it. You need God.

I went to Walmart today. The shelves were stocked with most items but almost everything was at 50% or less stock. I was able to buy everything I wanted. Besides the stock levels the thing that bothers me is that I heard other people talking about stocking up before things get worse. There might be a run on items like back in March. Lot of people shopping for an early Thursday afternoon.

There will most certainly be another run on food and ammo. If we're thinking it so are a ton of others.

Get a job in a grocery store. They throw food away. Many times employees will get it.

Those prices are crazy! Still I wonder how long their stock will last. Even at crazy high prices toilet paper and hand sanitizer sold out back in March and April. In a month we might be wishing we could buy a 12 ounce can of meat for $9.

Do you have a resume? Have you done any research on how to perform a job search? Have you told every single person you know that you are looking for work? Nobody is coming to knock on your door with a job offer, you must market yourself and your skills.

Truth be told, you can always get a job at a hospital cafeteria in food prep, or a hospital laundry room. Check craigslist for day gigs, they can turn into full time if you make a good impression. Same goes for temp agencies...many companies 'audition' for employees using a temp assignment.

If you get an interview, there are actual techniques for getting the job. Google is your friend, just this once. It takes about 40 applications to land a job, on average (I used to be a recruiter). Trying to find work will test you on some deep levels, and can be extremely depressing. Just remember that the answer is no, no, no, no, until it is YES. The no's are just one step closer to YES. Persevere, we're all about to go into survival mode. Find your inner Jedi warrior.

Unfortunately, they don't understand that, for the most part. I left the city more than three years ago for my redoubt location, and have been telling my friends for over five years to get out, with almost zero effect, except for one who just listed her house today with intent to move up north. Everyone else just sort of humors me. So nuts....no imagination at all.

I have been trying to get out of the city, but I do not have enough money to leave. I have a good home, and is in need of repairs. I will not sell it for peanuts, and at the moment cannot afford to fix it.
