We know the system is totally corrupt. We know that the present inertia is too powerful to halt. But perhaps we can deflect it just a tiny bit before the inevitable crash and burn.

Think of the Dems and Reps as two different ships at sea. Both ships are taking you to the same place but one will take you there more slowly than the other. Most thinking adults see a benefit in keeping the system we have for as long as we can because what comes after will be Mad Max for a time and we don't what our children living in that world if we can help it.

Perhaps science can achieve breakthroughs that will turn things around. Fusion power for example. We are just trying to buy some time.
