Manhattan DA Vance Jr. (whose father was Jimmy Carter's Secretary of State - and who took money from Harvey Weinstein while declining to prosecute him for sexual assault - and who sought a reduced sex-offender status for Jeffrey Epstein) wants to see if Trump's reimbursement of former attorney Michael Cohen for payments to Daniels and another woman violated any laws in New York, and whether Trump's accounting firm falsely accounted for the reimbursements as a legal expense.

Who gives a fuck about tax returns before he took office? What I want to see is the tax returns of politicians AFTER they've been in office. Like Obama's, Biden's, Pelosi's and Newsome's.

The Supreme Court just opened the door for that to happen. If it shows Obama was a foreign student his entire Presidency becomes null and void. Every law he passed and every Executive Order is wiped out. Also his SCOTUS picks would also be eliminated. Everything he did. Because he would have been Constitutionally ineligible to hold office.
And it means he can't seal records indicating wrongdoing by his administration.

Want to know how you can be sure there isn't anything in there?

I will tell you exactly what he is hiding. He had business losses, in particular in Atlantic City. The law allows you to use those losses to offset future income for a long period of time. It is called, loss carry forward. (I am in this same position. My yearly earnings are actually negative on my tax returns and have been for several year now.) Trumps income could actually be (likely are) negative and thus he likely hasn't been paying much tax recently because of it. 100% legal and it is what all business people do. But one could easily see how it could be turned into political cannon fodder.

Further, since he is a business man involved in tons of different businesses, his tax return is a few thousand pages. No ordinary person will be able to understand them at all. Again, a lot of political hay can be made by ignorant people, on both political sides.

Trumps returns are continually be looked at by banks providing his company loans. He has been high profile for decades. I am sure he was audited by the State and the IRS often. (I personally as a low level business guy got audited on average every three years.) I do not believe that any problems with them will be found. Again just political ammunition.

That was their choice. It's not against the law to keep your finances private.
