Anonymous Coward User ID: 78842581 United States 07/09/2020 12:27 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I was in SK in '08 when Roh Moo-hyun committed suicide by jumping off Owl Rock. I lived in SK for five years from 2007-2012. He was facing disgrace, too. It is a different culture. Generally Americans don't commit suicide out of shame any more. I think it is because we can do the most heinous things and not feel deep shame. It's nothing to be proud of really. The Romans were more noble than us. |

I think President Roh was corrupt as well. You have to understand that their culture is quite different when it comes to male/female relations as well. Look, I think he was probably a product of his culture and time. SK is changing. He was caught up in that change. In other words, he failed to change in time: a vice in Confucianism! |

They are a very conservative society in many ways. It is not ok to sexually harrass your secretary, of course, but this man was a product of a different time in a different country. Like I say, he was caught up in the change. |

In times past, it would have been swept under the rug. Same in America, but this change is more recent in SK. |

I could go on and on. You've seen one leftwinger, you've seen 'em all. From a social, cultural standpoint, the US is more liberal than South Korea is. Yet they're smack up against a barbaric ultra-liberal regime known as North Korea. Yea, nuances between the left and right do vary throughout the world. But, in general, the increasing chaos, meanness and decadence of America is mainly a leftwing phenomenon, not a rightwing one. |

He was probably guilty of something bad, because suicide is usually a symptom of 'no hope' or you don't see any hope. I'm a bad person and everybody knows, there's no hope in any of that. Whereas being accused of false crime can often still present hope of being redeemed in a court, and can have the effect of giving one purpose and thereby hope. Jsut my take on it. |

Yonhap reported this earlier, but apparently the police denied it. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77517484 Yonhap is one of the main news agencies in SK. It's like our AP. I'm gonna call this one confirmed unless evidence is provided that proves it false. Looks as if it's hitting the international wires now. So I would go with true. [link to www.msn.com (secure)] |

Suicide such a harakiri, kamikaze, suicide bombing, self-immolation are usually found in the Eastern regions, such as the Mddle-East, South Asia and East Asia. |
