It would have been nice to have love, or deep friendships, or warm relation with family. It wasn't in the cards, and that stole a lot. Unfortunately, that's your foundation right there. And you try and make a facsimile with pain. It's sick how people do that. Sicker that they think they're doing good. People are strangers because of appearances. Green beards, that is all. All the commandments, all the fairy stories, they don't hold a candle to real world experience. People weren't shy when they said that externals mattered.
