These reviews are all so bizarre. Are these people taking the piss or talking in some kind of code or what? I noticed some complained about "the box" - dented, scratched, didn't like the front, etc. I wondered if that meant the "package" had a scar, a bruise, wasn't pretty or whatever.

Lok so i took what you said and ran with it. Ended up finding this $17,000 swivel chair with a 5 star review. Only 1 review and this is what it said

Sometimes sellers will make the price on an item super high when they are out of stock rather than removing the listing. I know a few sellers that did this on their ebay stores. They say that way their listings keep their rank in recommended items, I am not sure they are correct but that s their thinking.
The wayfair thing though with the names sure sounds like there is something going on that is not just a glitch or human error

I don't know, I read through all of them on that one listing and while it may be code, or some of them may be code, it is also possible that randos came across ridiculously priced everyday items (unaware of any nefarious purpose) and went with a sarcastic review.

Very easy to read them as dripping with sarcasm:

"I bought 2 of these for the second stateroom on my yacht"
And
"I bought 1 for my private jet so I could fall asleep easily on my 10 minute flights from NYC to NJ because my wife is always bitching"
