This is genocide |

Quoting: Halfbeeedgal 69848056 In my area those steaks are cheaper currently than ground beef. Ground beef was $7-$9/lb but T-Bones were going for $5.49/lb. At those prices, take them home and grind them if you want ground beef for something. |

For some, those who are in the business of converting welfare cheques into cash money in particular, their formula is 80%+ of their target audience's income, and if anything ever goes wrong with a roommate or anything at all, they offer nonsensical solutions of "if this problem doesn't stop we are charging you an illegal fee" except they of course leave out the part about it being illegal and you're still spending 80% of your income to live in a shit hole while serious, recurring problems never get fixed but you better believe they are actually extracting those extra fees from certain people over and over again, because those same shit disturbers keep breaking the same "rules" over and over again. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79016557 Rent/col is extremely high in many major metros. I used to live in an area where a cheap basement apartment 25 miles outside the city was still $1500/mth +utils. In the city, $2000/mth+ wasn't unheard of. Do the math .... $2400 pandemic assistance + $800 unemployment = $3200/mth $3200 - $2000 rent - $200 electric - $50 gas - $35 water - $75 Internet - $300 car payment - $175 car insurance - $100 cable is $2935 and we still need to buy food, put gas in the car, and account for other expenses, like health insurance, dentist, etc. Also, they're being taxed on unemployment. This illustrates why $15/hr is necessary in many areas. Indeed, that may also be what you would consider "low income." |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 79128512 United States 07/12/2020 08:54 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | buying a house, by the time all the bills are paid, costs you a fortune. it's a scams so real estate agents can get rich. I'm not sure what the scam is. Carrying a mortgage is always cheaper than rent. After 30 years with a mortgage you'll have paid less than the renter and have a home and property as an asset. The renter will have spent more money and retained nothing. The upside of renting is that there are no maintenance costs. Also, rent is pretty much guaranteed to continually increase. Mortgages don't increase over time although your property taxes probably will, but not nearly at as high of a rate as renting. When I rented, I never saw an increase of less than 5% on any given year, even when the economy was imploding. |
