Today Security Guy replaces Walmart employees at door

So today the small Walmart that I go to has a security officer standing at the door. I tried to get a good look at what company, but couldn't read it. So, many questions here.

Why is there a need for escalation of the doorman? Why are there rented choral gates at a Walmart that never has a line or a problem?

I live in next to St Pete, a town in which the police are not coming out anymore for violent calls, which I guess would be shoplifting, is this the reason why they're suddenly doing this.

I'm already seeing huge decrease of local police in my area. The St Pete times article said other cities in this county are looking at not sending out police for non-violent issues. I guess they really just want things to go wild weasel.

How convenient they'll all be wearing masks so won't get caught on camera.

How convenient the infrastructure is now in place to prevent thefts at bigger stores, six feet away, security guys, now they can't enter as a gang and "bum" rush the store.
