I always wrote it as "Sinpaku," which is the way I first read about it, in a Michio Kuchi book in the 80's.

There is "High Sinpaku," above the iris and "Low sinpaku," below the iris.

Low Sinpaku has been associated with depression. People's eyes can also change over years and can change back. Everyone I have ever met in my life who has big white portions of their eyes below their irises have always been quite imbalanced, bordering on psychotic. They are all manic depressives as well.

The "high Sinpaku" is associated with violent behaviour and personalities.

Charles Manson had High Sinpaku eyes.
