You would be crazy to stay working as a police officer in this day and age. When local politicians are not on the side of the police force, we got big problems

NYC is a culturally, socially, politically very liberal or leftwing environment. So corruption and slippery-slope ethics (or lack of same) dominate that community.

That's the perfect breeding ground for crooked cops like the self-admitted Communist sympathizing James Comey and John Brennan. The two in charge of the FBI and CIA not all that long ago.

Their ideological minions still exist throughout the federal government - Trump or no Trump - and certainly are duplicated in a leftwing sewer like New York City.

A lot of the pro-BLM, pro-Floyd crowd has been passive about or even smugly approving of flat-out corrupt cops like Comey and Brennan and a flat-out corrupt "DA" like Robert Mueller.

Victims of their frame-up like Michael Flynn have a way more spotless history than that of a George Floyd.

Ironies and idiocies abound. And various forms of corruption up the wazoo.

Deblasio and every other freedom hating, mask pushing, lockdown loving politician left or right should be removed from office and prosecuted. They've violated human rights not only in the US but worldwide. This defund the police social justice bullshit is just a cover for their goddamn incompetence, fraud, lies and greed. They utterly destroyed global economies and rather than admit they're criminal stupidity they make it a thousand times worse by dragging this mess out in the name of politics and protecting themselves. Does no one in political office anywhere in the world have the guts to stand up to these assholes? Or does every country have to pull a Serbia and physically beat their politicians into submission? Dude, the virus is real. As long as people aren't using prophylaxis like hydroxychloroquine, it will be quite dangerous. NYC seems not to be a hotspot at the moment.

Still, I wouldn't blame NYC cops from staying away from crowds and dangerous situations, after all they cannot use techniques that work. That would be like the old days when you could usually find a cop in the local Dunkin Donuts. They get paid, and they won't get prosecuted by Cyrus Vance Jr. for doing their jobs or for wrongthink.

And the communities will then complain the police aren't doing their jobs, even the mayor will complain, but like in Atlanta, the mayor caused the problem so cops surely don't give a crap about what these mayors think or even "command".

NYC is in deep trouble unless we can get a real mayor in there. And that might take a couple iterations or more.

Where did the Obergefell opinion say that the government or constitution has no authority? I thought it purported to say something like the 14th Amendment forces, via its authority, that sort of "equal rights".

Now you could say the constitution was gone as of the imposition of the 14th Amendment in the late 1860's, and that would be a reasonable assertion.
