I don't mean to "take away" beeches thread. I just wanted her to know there is an ongoing "safe place" to visit. Anyone is welcome, as long as they behave. We used to have a group of us that came out of another thread. It was a great thread by tiny green about preps, gardening, life. She had to stop, so we started this one. Now we have to find the regulars. They're still on here, but I never see them posting.

I think both places are great. Truly.

kinda like a corner with two gas stations on it.... sometimes it's easier to go to the Shell station, and other times you are coming from the other side of the road and end up at the no-name one with the funny pumps.

I like both

Well

Well is sometimes, and sometimes not. Basically life is NOT going to return to its prior path, since we had just moved here.... don't truly have a path yet!

What I do have is enough friendship, support, contact and sheer astounding natural beauty to keep me going.

memorial will be over a week away. Want all to be able to come who can. Small group as it is.... BBQ I still am enjoying the flowers... the pale blue-gray plant was Dusty Miller.

that kept bothering me as I wondered what it was....

Sleeping better, eating better.

I looked for you.

your presence is calming and fun! dare I speak of fun now??

guess so!

I almost missed your post.... at the near bottom of a page.

specifically, you had presences in places you lived or live... you know what I mean, I hope.

For a night or two I was very on edge. Hoping and not hoping, praying and trying to think of anything else... no attention span worth more than s millisecond.... that period is ending or over.

so glad you have graced this thread.

I'm crying again, just as well; emotion and caring for others is what raises us beyond the wild, makes us be a family, however tenebrous the connection.

As your husband loved you, in our own way, the family of GLP loves you as well and will hold you in our hearts and with our words.

Edit to add: Please let us know how we may help you should a need arise. A trip of hours or a day is of no consequence to those who offer help should you require it, it comes at no cost, it is why we are.

Also I have some experiences I feel I should share with you, but now is not the time. With your permission I will bare that part of my soul to you in PM in a few weeks, and I yet I suspect you already know it.

Be well, you are loved, we will be here or wherever you may need us. - Louis

Until your military service has required you neutralize enemy combatants and invaders in the defense of your country,
don't presume to tell us that have defended you that you don't support every shot we fired to eliminate that enemy.

Thank you, thank you.
Here for pretty much the first time today.... busy day. Your thoughts and experiences welcome - always. Don't be too sad!!

Let me say that I have abundant support at this time, more than I could have ever thought. Flowers from friends in our old state, calls from family on his side, and a visit to a place I had never seen today.

which had also gone through a hard, terrible event - Gatlinburg.

There are still skeletons of trees everywhere after the huge deadly fire, but life abounds.

ever hear of a plant called sweet woodruff?

found some today and it is here with me and I will plant it in a suitable container.

In German the name is Waldmeister - Master of the Forest.

Waldmeister is the main ingredient outside of wine/champagne in an early spring German punch called Maibowle, or May punch.

it has a subtle, hard to place taste.... you get it once a year.

Waldmeister is said to contain cumarin, related to the blood thinner Coumadin, so moderation is good.

I want to see its tiny white blossoms again.

No I haven't heard of it before, but natural medicine is always better than manufactured.

I will study up on it. I believe many commercial medicines are a panacea while the equivalent natural medicines are an actual cure.

Agree.

I bet it helps better than Coumadin, but its taste and lore is what I like.

Waldmeister Bowle

The Waldmeister Bowle is a refreshing alcoholic punch traditionally drunk in celebration of fertility and the spirits of the forest. In the Middle Ages, this drink was hailed as aphrodisiac (perhaps these ages were not so dark after all). The main flavor ingredient is sweet woodruff or in German Waldmeister (literally: master of the woods), native to Europe and Asia, and available as an herb and attractive groundcover in North America.

Do you do any canning, Beeches? I was thinking of you when planning to do more canning here. It may be too soon for you because you a probably still trying to take care of matters and endure the day, but I find canning a beautiful distraction. I love the element of preparing something nourishing and lovely, possibly for someone who may need it in the future.

It has the element of caretaking, imho. We are entering uncertain times and it encourages me to think this jar of whatever may uplift and help someone in the times to come.

Peace and comfort to you today.

I am NEW to this....

did peas, blanching and freezing.
made lacto-fermented sauerkraut and have a fine head of cabbage waiting on the counter...

have found my parrot likes oorn on the cob. Great because I have so much...

the last meal I made for him had home-canned salsa from a friend for the Vitamin C and taste, to go with braised liver for the iron.

and fresh Peaches and Cream corn.
