Quoting: Interferon You can put 80's synth into it, but it still has the same weird progressions and bizarre cadence. Bizarre cadence? Which one do you think that applies to? Here's an 80s song that sounds modern to me: "I am the City" by Abba. I think cadence is more bizarre on this song than any of the remixes posted in this thread. Could you be more specific about what you mean by "bizarre cadence"? [link to www.youtube.com (secure)] I don't know how to describe it. It is not melodic like most music before the early 90's. Even folk music. A music expert could probably explain the difference. All I know is I can hear it. It is more rhythmic than melodic. And the chord progressions are recycled and predictable. |

But there are other types of music in this 80s redo genre that sound completely fresh. I think this is a good example. [link to www.youtube.com (secure)] |

Fortunately, in the 80's hardly anyone played it. But in the 90's it was all you could get on the radio. |

I was just listening to the following 80s song in another thread. Bizarre cadence? Does it get any more bizarre than David Lee Roth? Weird progressions? Eddie Van Halen was the king of that. Van Halen was mainstream rock during most of the eighties with all that going on. How does it suck? It's classic rock. [link to www.youtube.com (secure)] |

Bananarama's "I Heard A Rumour" was released in 1987, and in terms of progressions and cadence, it sounds more like the the music of recent years to me than the 80s. This was as mainstream pop as you could get at that time. [link to www.youtube.com (secure)] |
