Quoting: xemomorph How Many of you out there are Working anyway? The recycling of earnings into financial assets has replaced product sales as the primary driver of profits in America. It's a scheme that would make Bernie Madoff blush. To date, the Fed and Treasury have committed 8 trillion dollars to backstopping the weaker areas of the market in an effort to flood the market with liquidity. "Backstopping" is fancy word for "price-fixing": the Fed buying up trillions of dollars of corporate debt, ETF's, MBS, and US Treasuries to keep prices artificially high in order to reward the 1% of Americans it secretly serves. This is why the 1% are not concerned about the vast devastation that has been inflicted on average Americans. They'll still be raking hefty profits via the stock market while the real economy slips deeper into a long-term coma. Besides, when the lockdowns are finally lifted, the 1% will see a surge of consolidation brought on by the destruction of so many Mom and Pop industries that couldn't survive the downturn. No doubt, the expansion of America's tenacious monopolies factored heavily into the calculation to blow up the economy with the Coronahoax. Meanwhile, the deepening slump will undoubtedly create a permanent underclass that will eagerly work for a pittance of what they earned before the crash. So, there you have it: profitability, consolidation and cheap labor. Why wouldn't the bipartisan 1% love the idea of crashing the economy? It's a win-win situation for them. |

I feel for ya. I do think masks cut down on viral load and that can make the difference between life and death for all concerned... But after wearing one for a couple hours to do the shopping, I am so glad to be shed of that thing! It's also depressing (at least for me) to see everyone in a store wearing a mask. It feels surreal and like I'm not even in my own country anymore. All I want to do once I'm in there is get out as fast as I can. There is nothing enjoyable about it. Other than grocery shopping, I won't be going shopping or to restaurants. There's nothing pleasant about seeing everyone masked up, employees in shields, and cashiers behind plexiglass. It just creates uneasiness in me. I can imagine. Its a bit disconcerting to me, and I dont go out much. Day in day out with no end in sight, and given what its all about, gotta be stressful, depressing. Fkn plague planet. You have to try to toughen up. What you both are describing is true, spot on. However, feeling like this last March I realized back then when it was really bumming me out bigger and badder and far worse things are coming so you have to toughen up. Worse is yet to come. Figure out how to deal with it. Will help with suggestive ways to cope if you can't figure out what works for you but everyone needs to get ready for far worse mentally and physically. |
