What is a good place to get a private mailbox and can you use an alias when receiving packages?

A fake ID is hard to do these days and very illegal too. I am not sure a P.O. box is the best idea because it would take an actual fake ID. I want to be able to put my name on the package as an alias and still receive it. If I am John Smiff and have taken out a PO box 123 for zip code 10002 and address it as:

Hedley Lamarr
Box 123
NYC, NY 10002

Will USPS be OK with that?

What I was thinking was more of a private discrete place where you send it to their address and they put it in your box there. Let's assume we are talking about a Discrete Mail, Etc. at 1500 Houston with my box of #123:

Hedley Lamarr
1500 Houston #123
NYC, NY 10002

I am guessing a private place would be much more OK with that. Or am I wrong?

I had a 'funkie' (functional junkie) friend of mine get me a P.O. Box once. It ran for years. Junkies don't care, just give them enough cash for their fix and they forget anyhow.

There is no law against using a pseudonym unless for criminal purposes. Rent a mail drop and perv out to your hearts delight.

So, in general, a place like Mail Boxes, etc. is going to deliver the package, not call the cops, not open it, etc. if the box # is correct even if the name is obviously fake?

Not a bad idea. Could address it to my company and just say c/o IT Director or something like that, that would look legit. No name at all doesn't seem that legit, it usually needs some routing within a company otherwise it implies a very insubstantial company. I like this idea a lot.

I just don't want the selling company knowing who I am and I don't want it coming to my home address. It doesn't need to be able to withstand the scrutiny of a federal investigation or anything like that.

So the plan then is to get a box at a Mail Boxes Etc or similar under my real name and ID (I am told this is required these days) and order parts with a Walmart credit card purchased for cash sending it to the box with a company name and c/o IT Department or somesuch. I'll use the company name when getting the box so it makes it easier on them. Maybe order a few cheap items before I try moving anything expensive.
