El Paso is supposed to be really bad, and that's only 100 miles away. If not required due to my job, I would be wearing a mask into stores because..... it's all around me. I honestly think I had this virus at Christmas time. I went to the doc right away and got Tamiflu, so most of the symptoms were mitigated....but that Sunday morning before Christmas my breathing was so labored for about five hours. It scared me, because I had never had that happen before, save for during a heart attack, but I knew I wasn't having a heart attack. This was before there was any talk of the virus, and the shortness of breath took me by complete surprise. Heh, if I thought I could trust the antibody test, I'd get one....but I don't think I trust the results on their tests. It'd really bite the big one to be told I have antibodies, when I don't, and then get it while thinking I was safe.....and I don't even want to catch a cold, much less the flu or this....virus. I don't like being feeling sick and pukey..... You never change things by fighting the existing reality. The way I see it, social distancing removes our ability to touch each other, and wearing masks removes our ability to communicate nonverbally with each other. I feel removing both are by design for a purpose, but maybe thats just the paranoid in me coming out..... There are probably a lot of unintended consequences that we haven't even thought of at this point by having an entire population wearing masks. I love the shield idea as a viable alternative, although I still have major attitude about this whole covid thing. Good luck finding sunglass readers - hope they exist..... |

I've seen them online, so I know I can find them.... I don't like any of this either, not for a second....but my livelihood depends on me wearing face protection. Now, if I'm told I have to be vaccinated to continue working, then I will quit, on a dime, without reservation. The face protection is as far as I'll go. We shouldn’t be forced into a vaccine if we wear a mask. People who work at hospitals were told if they didn’t want the flu shot then they needed to wear a mask. Well now we are all wearing them so hopefully people can even opt out of the flu shot. Thanks for this thread. |

I do get a lot of looks but at least my lipstick doesn't get messed up :) Quoting: tamaralori I'm thinking I'm getting more curious looks, like their thinking about it.... Heh, I just kept telling myself before wearing it, "I don't care what I look like, I'm keeping my job!" I am VERY GRATEFUL I've been working this whole time! Every single day I'm counting my lucky stars I'm still working.... You never change things by fighting the existing reality. I saw someone wearing one in a hospital and asked about getting one. I got mine on Amazon and it has the word Face Shield: Protective Isolation Mask. I have not worn it yet, but plan to use it in the next few days. LisaDiane |

However, a cheesecloth type mask with holes would meet compliance so would a mask made from worn out the shirt. It isn't about stopping germs it's all about feel good control. Ridiculous! |
