Rap was picked up by the progressive powers that be and used as a tool to bring the worst elements of urban ghetto life out into the white suburban mainstream, as a means of undermining the white middle class. Hendrix could not have been used in that way. He would have been kicked to the curb by the music industry just like all the white rock bands were.
