Looks like some of you have forgotten this. You probably weren't even born when he was elected President. JFK was a Democrat.November 8, 1960. In a closely contested election, Democrat United States Senator John F. Kennedy defeated incumbent Vice President Richard Nixon, the Republican Party nominee. -50% [ link to en.wikipedia.org (secure)] Would you vote for him if he ran against Trump? Probably not.  Democrats were different back then. Both Kennedy and Nixon were good men (in different ways) who tried to buck a system too big for them to handle. They both got disposed of in different ways and basically nobody since has challenged the powers that those two took on.
