Pandemic on track to crush NYC economy, says influential business group
Welcome to the Banana Republic of Ameristan! There are so many cities starting to announce similar.

"As many as one-third of New York City’s small businesses fold; tens of billions of dollars are lost in city revenue; poverty and unemployment rise, crushing already strained affordable housing; and both the tourism and nonprofit funds that fuel arts and culture dry up.

That’s the bleak future the five boroughs could be headed to, according to an exhaustive report the Partnership for New York, an influential business group, released Monday. The organization, which assembled the 67-page report with the help of 14 global consulting firms, is pushing for immediate private-public partnerships to avoid a worst-case scenario. "

Similar group in Baltimore announced the same last month in report.

The ability to sustain even basic government functions is wiped away. Coupled with the loss of China controlled supply chains and manufacturing, the entire US system is gone.

Biden, nor anyone else will not have the wherewithal to do anything except pump more money onto the bonfires of American banality.

Pelosi won't even find gourmet ice cream to devour at Falconcrest. No more choco-truffle flavor poops from her.

New York and Congress are run by people who eat each other's asses, pee on each other and tell Americans to wear masks and stand 6ft. apart.

They have access to TV broadcasts and superficial control over a rapidly collapsing force sturcture.

QUOTE:"Facing $550 million in lost revenue attributed to the coronavirus in the fiscal year that ended last month, and a shortfall just as large looming for the year ahead, the MTA received about $392 million in funding from the federal CARES Act, according to the agency. It’s enough to last the agency about six months, according to an analysis by TransitCenter, a national transit research foundation."

I have no doubt that the Democrats are cheering because it is their malicious response to covid-19 that crushed NYC economy and that's exactly what they wanted when they shoved asymptomatic people into nursing homes to kill the elderly.

Agreed, and so many of our cities are failing now. We have a condition in this country where the 'have nots', don't even have any real skills to earn money with, and are being goaded into trying to ruin life for those who work; all because some marxist told them they can have everything for free. GGRRRR.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 73506388

snip

"The Baltimore hotel industry could lose up to $940 billion in total output. The food industry altogether have a combined $2.1 trillion in output at risk.
-Because of COVID’s impact on Baltimore industries, there is a projected $350 million shortfall in state and local taxes. About $120.5 million of the local tax shortfall would come from lost sales tax.
-94% of surveyed Baltimore business say they’ve been impacted by COVID-19.
- 80% of respondent businesses say they are greatly concerned about “potential for significant impact to our business operations.”
-47% of respondent businesses believe they could only remain operational for 6 months or less if economic conditions persist.
-Only 14% of customers surveyed feel safe using public transportation. Only 19% are likely to dine onsite at restaurants when restaurants reopen.
-The Baltimore restaurant industry (including all food and drinking places) currently has 26,316 unemployed staff. Hotels have 5,754 unemployed staff. Over 46,000 jobs in Baltimore City have been directly and indirectly impacted by COVID-19.
-If the pandemic were to last an entire year, restaurant workers are projected to lose up to $57 million in labor income. That number is $44.7 million for hotel and hospitality workers.
-The Baltimore real estate sector is projected to lose $197.4 in indirect output. $158.3 million would be lost in property taxes because of decreases in property values due to the impact of Baltimore’s various industries."

It's already crushed -Most rich 'movers and shakers' have already abandoned the City and don't plan on returning

I live in a ritzy part of NJ andd they are all here riding their fancy bicycles, driving lamborghinis, martins, and maseratis, etc

No one seems concerned either - that worries me the most

what do they have stacks of currency in their basements?

None of these people are producers - where do they think they will get food when the system breaks down - you can't eat cash

The Big Apple CRUMBLES: New York retailers say the 'dead' city is now the WORST place to do business because there are no tourists or commuters in Manhattan

Have no fear New York. Your mayor Bill DeBoso’s tourism campaign including painting a giant Black Lies Matter mural on 5th Ave (that the City has to pay cops to guard around the clock) will help boost business.
