This is true. Same with Native Americans. The processed foods are killing folks. And for poor people, it is often cheaper to buy filling, non nutritious but calorie dense foods such as pasta, premade frozen foods, which are terrible but fill the tummy better than expensive, nutritious but low calorie healthy foods like fresh veggies and leafy greens. Then you have something called food deserts - not desserts lol -which are areas that dont have grocery stores where you can even get the healthy foods. Just convenience type stores where all they sell is crap, and if they have an apple or banana you will pay a premium for it. Compassion in these situations will open your eyes, instead of condemning whole groups of people if you dont have any idea what they go through. If you dont understand it, it means that you are fortunate enough not to have experienced this type of poverty.

I have a hard time believing there even were obese slaves in the first place. Their diet was controlled by the slave owners, after all. What slave owner is going to waste enough food that his slave becomes fat? And what slave is going to have had enough time on her hands not working her ass off to get fat?

Anybody got any pictures from 1864 of a fat slave? I don't believe I've ever seen a picture of anybody from that time period that was fat. Maybe a plantation owner here and there, but most people worked themselves to the bone with hard physical labor. That's not a lifestyle conducive to massive weight gain.

A lot of soy is fed to cattle, as the farmer encourages the steers to grow quickly. You're getting the benefits of enhanced growth due to soy from both ends, vegan soy based food and beef cattle which were raised on soy.

Ever been to the American south? I moved there and have never seen so many morbidly obese white people. Somehow they have the money for Ford F250s with thousands of dollars or customizations, $400 Yeti coolers, nonstop alcohol, drugs, boats, jet skis etc. but eat the cheapest, worst crap imaginable. Oh and constantly shopping at Walmart etc. while complaining about China.

The Southern diet produces fatties regardless of race.

Whilst you ignore personal responsibility, these are excuses and you know as well as anyone that blacks are terrible with responsibility.

There are food deserts even in middle class areas. Area I recently moved to in the south is full of gated communities, houses aren’t cheap. Thousands of homes being built. Nowhere to eat. It’s all fast food, gas station stores and one supermarket that is limited with selection. Where I used to live up north for example, the prepared food counters at several local grocery stores had wide selections of food, from fried foods, to vegetarian, various ethnic foods and all sorts of options. The one grocery store that is convenient here has a handful of dried foods and macaroni and cheese. But surrounded by more affluent gated communities. You have to drive quite a distance to get anything decent. The local southerners openly mock “health food” or complain about food pricing while buying a ton of “redneck toys”.

Didn't know that. I'm a Northerner myself. They need to educate themselves then. But I'm sure that won't happen. Sad.

I'm pressing the issue because a very dear friend of mine is black and with chronic health issues and I have tried somewhat successfully to teach him better eating habits. He doesn't want to be judged negatively because of the color of his skin. Neither would you.

Not just the south. I have union family in Michigan, constantly bellowing about buy American (which I do agree with), but at the same time, buy the cheapest Chinese shit from Walmart. Then also eat so much processed crap, like nasty ass Cool Whip, that all I can do is SMH.

I'm a Scottish and Irish blend with some Danish thrown in for good measure and I prefer Whisky with haggis and neeps and tatties. Still at a 31" waist at 50

Everyone’s fatter today because of poor food choices and changes to the environment such as the use of pesticides like round up on all non organic food. Being fat has also been mainstreamed through the inclusivity and “fat acceptance” movements. Genetics does still play a role and many blacks can’t be thin no matter what they do. This is also true for some whites. Just look at model Ashley Graham. She eats nothing but healthy food all day and is huge. I bet everyone wants to see her furry bits!

At about the 15:15 mark, CinnamonToastKen, I would like to mention that in most of these obese individuals they are up to deeply afflicted with depression. Depression is no joke. It truly is one of the greatest of psychological horrors. I really wonder what happened to Nikocado Avocado in his younger years. Was he bullied as roughly, more so, or to a lesser degree than me when I was in my elementary school days? Was he bullied at all in his grade school years and/or elsewhere? Was or are his parents helicopter parents and/or worse to him? If Nikocado Avocado has depression these emotional outbursts are part of depression.

I can attest to the fact that having depression is not fun nor healthy by any means. The problem with depression is it is usually very deeply layered of a psychological problem. There is definitely a spiritual aspect to depression, but for simplicity's sake I will ignore the spiritual aspect of depression. When your depression is genuine you will naturally gravitate to whatever is your comfort food and/or drink(s). A definite part of depression and worsening it is the very act of fat shaming itself. I mean really, how would you two feel if up to alot of people were fat shaming either or the both of you for whatever asinine reasoning of theirs? More than likely you would emotionally lash out and to help quell your emotional and/or mental anguish you would resort to whatever it is you consider to be your comfort food(s) and/or drink(s).

So to help combat my own obesity issue due to my own depression I have been cutting down on food portions, trying to cut down and eliminate cokes(blanket term for Southerners for all soft drinks), and drink alot more water. I have been not only cutting down on at least my food portions over the last some months, but also psychologically conditioning myself that I do not eat to that entire insert food item(s) here all in one sitting. It is not wrong to put the remainder in the fridge so I can have for tomorrow's dinner for example. On the physical side you will eventually start to shrink your stomach. I do not mean your belly though. As your stomach shrinks the more easy it will become for you to feel full on smaller food portions. Water is an excellent filler too. So you can easily drink a quart of ice cold water with whatever meal you are eating.

So if you (whoever you are reading my post) are afflicted with depression and overweight or obese there is hope for you. Just know those who make maliciously make fun of you are most decidedly not your friends. They may barely qualify as frienemies though. Everyone who fat shames you are most definitely not worth your time and effort to befriend as well. However, do not mistaken a potential friend's health advice as fat shaming. Especially since you may wind up much more alone than you want to be... and worsen your depression in ways you can not control. Good luck.

Depression is also a psychological that just so happens to become pretty darn crippling to alot of people out there. Fat shaming others who are fat is not the correct way to go whatsoever. To me, fat shaming someone for being fat confirms you to be an infantile individual who most definitely does not earn my friendship.
