Re: Yahoo has turned off all comments on its stories
the entire concept of a peaceful protest was the 1800 equivalent to the comment section
 Quoting: bcjams

nope

a comment section is a service a private business offers for free

there is no LAW stating all sites or news sites MUST offer a comment section

it is a privilege, not a right

you are not entitled to a comment section on private property

if you want to peacefully protest, you can, but private business owners, like website or store owners or home owners, don't have to allow people to protest on THEIR property

that would be like me saying I have the right to sit on your couch and protest you and everything you do and say and you have no right to have me removed

The 'left-wing' Yahoo was on board with the 'left-wing' ATT.
Att dropped them and bought CNN (scum)
Yahoo has been vomiting out hate and lies for years..running second to the Soros owned HuffPost (trash)

The time has come to ban all political discussion from online media, what right does anyone have to sway my beliefs?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24692042

You're weak. Real political zealots don't ever change their beliefs. It's actually because there's no free will and we are all wired a specific way.

My great-uncle is a Republican. Has been a Republican his entire life. Do you actually believe a comment posted on Yahoo, or any site for that matter, is going to in any way sway his fundamental political beliefs?

Their goal is to silence the people. When the Old Soviet Union was going through a coup or "Leadership" change, They would only play classical music over the Radio waves.

Your including the names of those social-media companies, with their well-known special legal privileges afforded them in the past by Congress, is why I can tell you're filtering your analysis through a leftwing prism. Which is fine and all. Just be honest about your liberal feelings and leftwing biases.

I admit I lean to the right, that I filter things through a conservative or rightwing prism.

Liberal or conservative, everyone needs to ask themselves how their political biases either help or fuck up their sense of honesty, rationality, common sense, integrity, ethics and compassion. And when those traits are treated like nuisances - as liberals have a knack of doing over and over again - a person has to ask him or herself just how fucked in the head they really are.

true conservatives support PRIVATE PROPERTY rights, which Youtube, Facebook, twitter and GLP all are, they are by definition PRIVATE PROPERTY

true conservatives support LESS government regulation on PRIVATE BUSINESSES, which which Youtube, Facebook, twitter and GLP all are, they are by definition PRIVATE BUSINESSES

communists are for the use of private business and private property for the "greater good"
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78524861

Yeah but true conservatives also understand the value of competition and the bad effects of monopoly. These companies might get broken up, which they arguably can be under antitrust law, or required to act as common carriers / public utilities.
 Quoting: oniongrass

the internet already is a public utility

you pay a bill for that public utility

websites on the internet are not public utilities

that would be like saying even though you pay a bill for the public utility of cable tv, the most popular tvs show must be deemed public utilities

that is what you are saying about popular sites on the internet, that youtube or facebook or twitter should be a public utility... but the internet is already a public utility that offers you access to EVERY website
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78524861

To make an imperfect analogy, your car offers you access over public roads to EVERY electric company. That doesn't mean the electric company should not ALSO be a public utility.

The government Started and Runs Facebook, Google (and Youtube). They have a private front and shouldn't. A government-run site shouldn't be censored, should be "public" and should protect the public's constitutional rights.

They're are saying racism is the reason. Are they talking about the racism towards whites? All the comments were mocking backward whites in poor rural america as trump supporters.

Yep; Avg Visit Duration will decrease, then overall visits decrease. Won't take long for advertisers to allocate ad dollars elsewhere. Yahoo knows this, unless they're living in Libville and refuse to acknowledge how the world works. If they're that stupid then they should fail. If not, then what's up? Is profitability not an objective? Owned by Verizon so there are more than just idiots running this.

Now, ONLY global and CBC allow comments. CBC comments are dominated by paid shills.
