Hands off Gibraltar: Britain blasts Spain over secret American lobbying campaign to convince US politicians to back joint control of Mediterranean territory

Why does UK need control of Gibraltar? They no longer have a Navy to defend it. They use what little navy they have to fail in the places where they send it.

The population of Gibraltar is about 30,000 people.

10,000 Spaniards work there.

Due to Brexit, the UK is attempting to demand that the border into Gibraltar has the same checks that happen on other international borders, (and not allow the workers to drive by refusing to acknowledge their driver's licenses and so forth).

It should be interesting to see if this causes more difficulty for Britain, the way that the rest of Brexit has.

Self determination the people of gibraltar want to remain British

Wrong Gib is a huge Naval base.

It was but not now only a few stop overs really most of the base is now a shipyard and industrial estate. Get the odd nuclear sub and the American ones as well as they aren’t allowed in at rota. It’s quite a listening post though.

Entire island = 6.8 km2
Naval Station Rota = 24 km2

We have more territorial waters than land and we are not a island my friend.
