Realize how much money our country spends on aircraft that pretty much none of them served anything live ~ i get 2001 till now ~ but the amount of money our military spends on shit that is now rotting....

I would say we are under served for the budget.

Im not a defund the

"police"
"military"

people who serve us, all americans. ~ but what the flock. we gotta figure something out

the amount of wasted airplanes in that desert...jesus.

80 percent are stored there for a reason.. No rust in the years down the road

Most can be put back in service if need be in case of a emergency

I agree, it's an arid climate so no rust. Back in 1993, I visited the Aviation museum which is right next to the boneyard. The boneyard is all fenced in with signs stating no picture taking. The airforce and navy still use parts from the boneyard to repair their planes. Many planes are mothballed and stored for re-activation if needed...

A note found inside the cockpit of Wise Guy, a B-52 Stratofortress, is displayed at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona. The jet has been at the 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group since 2008 and was recently flown out to be restored to active service. (Air Force)

I drive past it daily and have known many people who work there including the former base commander.

Many of those planes are not wasting away. They have plastic sheathing over the engines and sensitive gear. Tucson gets very little precipitation or humidity. We are in Monsoon now for a month or so but outside of tbat, the weather is quite boring.

Many can be deployed very quickly should the need arise. I was told by a friend that if i ever see them tearing the protective plastic off tbose aircraft, its time to bug out.

We have several plane boneyards in Arizona.

If I were to see them taking the plastic off i would most certainly post it. It has been mosre active recently with a lot of KC135a fuelers flying in and out which is slightly concerning.

DMAFB inventory is one of our last lines of defense. There are several hundred, maybe even a 1000+ viable aircraft there.

It is amazing to see everyday, it never gets boring. I have jumped out of several c130s and I am often reminded of my time in the Army
