The system may be getting ready for a major collapse and a roll out to a new currency. The limiting of cash and coins is a good sign of major issues ahead. Nows the time folks! UPDATE: went to another branch and was limited to 2500. The branches are about 30 minutes apart from each other so it does seem to be more of a widespread issue there is a cash paper shortage.. because the printing presses that print the COUNTERFEIT... are closed. Some of them in Asia. A dollar store I go to here opened late the other day.. the supervisor went to bank to get money to make change with... and they refused... a major grocery store her gave her cash and she ate 19 Cents of my purpose because I didn't have coin on me. |

"According to the United States Department of Treasury, an estimated $70 million in counterfeit bills are in circulation, or approximately 1 note in counterfeits for every 10,000 in genuine currency, with an upper bound of $200 million counterfeit, or 1 counterfeit per 4,000 genuine notes." but it seems they have no idea the rate that cash is injected into the system |

It might not be worth much if inflation goes rampant, but it is easier to toss out a Benjamin and get change than tossing down an ounce of gold and thinking you might get change back. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77060631 That's what silver is for. . But Old US Cash will be like foreign currency and rated differently. Like travelling and having to convert for different values. Not sure what to do with cash at the moment. Missed the window to buy gold and silver. Real estate is hot now. People buying up everything! |

I wanted cash (under 5k) Was told they could only give me 2k because cash is short. I have no limit on withdrawal. I’ve taken out 10k+ many times Why would anybody keep that much money in a bank? You know they changed the law after the last financial collapse. If your bank has financial "issues" they have the right to bail themselves out with depositors money. In other words, they will just keep your cash and their is nothing you can do about it. How much interest are they paying you? 1/4" of a percent? I keep just enough to pay my bills in a bank. The rest is safely in my hands and in a safe full of silver and gold. |

Either it is bank policy to only keep certain amounts of cash on hand, or it is bank policy to limit the amount of cash extractions. I was told that if I had given advance notice then they would have had the cash ready for pickup. $2,000 was the cash maximum that they advertised both times I encountered this situation. |
